Ambassador Hu Shan Calls on the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas

On 25th May 2011, Ambassador Hu Shan called on the Hon. Brent Symonette, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and presented the Copy of his Credentials to Symonette. Officials from the Bahamian Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Dr. Patricia Rodgers, Under Secretary Ms. Marilyn Zonicle and Chief of Protocol Ms. Elise Delancy joined the meeting. Ambassador Hu was accompanied by diplomats of the Chinese Embassy Li Yijian, Tan Jian and Hong Yanming.

Ambassador Hu conveyed to Symonette the best greetings from Chinese State Councillor Dai Bingguo and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi. Ambassador Hu expressed his thanks to Symonette and the Bahamian Foreign Ministry for the efforts and contribution they have made to promote continuous development of China-Bahamas friendly and cooperative relationship. Ambassador Hu assured Symonette that he would enhance all-round pragmatic cooperation between the two countries on the solid basis of what his predecessors have had established.

Symonette welcomed Ambassador Hu to the Bahamas to assume his post on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and said he himself and the Ministry would be happy to facilitate Ambassador Hu's work and hoped to work together with Ambassador Hu to take the Bahamas-China relationship to a new high.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern.
